[Before I begin, I have to explain the current situation. It is 1:30 AM. Its been a long day. I've been wanting to sleep since lunch but couldn't even nap because there was so much stuff to do. So the sudden impulse to blog? The result is completely nonsensical, but I hope you'll still read this through.]

Oh noes. I think I'm in love.

As a loyal fan of Corel's Paint Shop Pro (PSP), I was apprehensive about trying this so called Photoshop (PS) by Adobe. Because in my world, PSP came first, and PS was nothing more but a more expensive wannabe.

Back when I first jumped into the image editing bandwagon, PSP wasn't even owned by Corel yet. I started with the 7th ed; I think they're currently at the 12th. I'm not sure, I stopped at 10.

I felt old school. Stick to my guns and all that.

In recent years however (particularly when the CS series came out), I started hearing words like 'monochromatic contrast", "batch processing" and "actions" from PS users. Words totally foreign but intriguing.

So I researched... and liked what I read.

Then Leanne let me borrow her CS3 installer today.

AND OMFG I THINK I'M IN LOVE.

I'm sorry PSP, but you have just been served.

Now if anyone could teach me what's PS's equivalent for PSP's jpeg optimization, I think I'll be able to handle myself.

...And oh gawd I can't believe my first post in weeks is how much I adore Photoshop.

I bought a new laptop over Christmas break. The old one and I just didn't get along, especially since I accidentally fried its motherboard (its doing better now, thank you for asking) prior to the break. SAY HELLO to the new one.

Yes, it is huge. No, I don't mind. In spite of the size, it is surprisingly as light, maybe even lighter than the old one. And that size may also be the reason why the two of us are getting along quite well. It feels more like a desktop than a laptop, which is a plus for me since laptops and I have a well-documented (by my classmates) need-want relationship; I often need to bring a laptop to school, but laptops hate me.

Its also handling my insane amount of simultaneously open programs okay. I can't say its handling is perfect, but its certainly doing better than a lot of other laptops out there. Most laptops, even desktops, crash when I try to open my pdf'd journals, games, web messenger, ms office programs, pdf creator, games, plot digitizer, equipment price calculator, web browser, and games all at the same time.

I have just one tiny complaint:

*by the amazing people behind xkcd, as usual.

Phak MF 3.0.

Aside from the snail's pace of loading I've always complained about, recently it has screwed up the viewing of my multiply albums as well.

PFFFFTTTTT.

Uninstalled it and went back to 2.0. Much faster, much better.

Only, a whole bunch of things I saved in my favorites folder are gone. Waah. No spammage from me for a while.

Back to simplifying block diagrams, aka, 172 is shit.

Am I the only one hating the new update?

3.0.2, com'n down!
19th-Jan-2008 09:27 pm - USB Business Card
VIP
I think I'm still suffering from post-job fair rush because I practically squealed when I saw this:

"The M++CARD is a Business card which includes memory storage on the rear side of the card. The back of the card is laminated so as to hold a memory card (like Sony M2 Card). Two slits on the card make it possible to snap on a USB adopter, through which this card can be accessed. As per your needs, related data can be stored on this card. Thus, M++CARD can become truly business card, company info card, website card, product info card, portfolio card and so on." (SOURCE)

By simply giving someone your business card you can just as easily give them a copy of your resume, portfolio, company products, etc. I think this will be VERY handy, noh? The article is dated December 2007 so maybe that's why the product isn't as popular as I expected yet, but I'm betting this will almost surely be a hot-ticket item :D
